The Deputy Ministry of Shipping today launched the C.O.M.E (Cyprus Open Maritime Exchange) online platform. This is an online communication channel with the shipping industry and civil society.

This initiative is one of the actions of the recently presented National Strategy for Cyprus Shipping "SEAChange2030", through which Cyprus' vision for shipping is developed.

Through C.O.M.E, direct and continuous communication with the shipping industry at global and national level as well as with civil society is sought.

Through C.O.M.E, direct and continuous communication with the shipping industry at global and national level as well as with civil society is sought. Users will have the opportunity to submit opinions, suggestions and problems on all issues related to the responsibilities of the Ministry of Shipping such as green and digital transformation, safety and security in shipping, coastal shipping, the welfare and education of seafarers and any other issue that concerns them.

The aim of the Ministry of State for Maritime Affairs is to evaluate the contributions submitted through the platform with the ultimate goal of inoculating the policies and actions of the Ministry of State with issues and approaches that meet the needs and expectations of the maritime industry and civil society. The intention of the Ministry of State, depending on the interest shown on various issues, is to organise regular online meetings to discuss and analyse the various opinions and suggestions.

During the presentation of the C.O.M.E. Online Platform, Deputy Minister of Shipping Vassilis Dimitriades said.

"Today we are launching a new way of communication with the shipping industry and civil society. C.O.M.E. is a tangible expression of extroversion that we want to be at the heart of our activities. We seek to get even closer to the shipping industry, to the professionals who serve the coastal and marine ecosystem of Cyprus, to non-governmental organisations, to the whole of civil society. We want to listen to their thoughts and problems, to evaluate their suggestions. Through this systematic collection and utilization of knowledge, we seek to become more direct and effective in the way we offer our services, more proactive in the way we address challenges. As we promised during the presentation of the National Strategy "SEAChange2030" every action implemented will be communicated, and this is what we are doing today with the C.O.M.E platform".

The online platform is available, in English and Greek, at: www.comeshipping.com.cy
