The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mr. In his address to the "Annual Pancyprian Thalassaemia Conference - Thalassaemia2023Cy", held on Friday, October 6, 2023, he reiterated the readiness of the state to support people with chronic diseases and especially multitransfused people with thalassaemia.
In addition, Mr Panagiotou referred to issues that were discussed during the previous period between the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance and the Pancyprian Thalassaemia Association, and for which actions have already been promoted by the competent services of the Ministry.
In particular, the Minister referred to the periodic recalculation of the special benefit in such a way that it increases in proportion to the increase in contributions, the possibility of reducing the number of insurance units necessary to establish a right to payment of the special benefit at the age of 50 and the possibility of maintaining payment of the special benefit after the age of 63 and up to the age of 65.
