The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth (MPEAN) expresses its deepest sorrow for the untimely loss of the Director of Secondary Education George Iosifidis. The Lanitio Secondary School, with which he was particularly associated, as well as education in general, loses a qualified and gifted principal, who distinguished himself for his enthusiasm and dedication to the public school, students and the educational world. Equally valuable has been the contribution of George Iosifidis as President of the Association of Greek Directors of Secondary Education in Cyprus.
The deceased served conscientiously and zealously in education and the public school for almost four decades and in the last period he fought courageously with the disease, taking care of his duties towards the school at the same time. Unfortunately, he did not have time to complete his career, having passed away before his retirement. However, his contribution to pedagogy, the school and the ethos of education remains a legacy and will surely inspire younger teachers.
The Department and the Minister personally express their gratitude for the services and overall contribution of George Josephides to education and sincere condolences to his family.
