The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mr.Yannis Panayiotou, is travelling today to Geneva, Switzerland, as head of the Cyprus delegation of the social partners to the 112th Session of the General Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The Minister of Labour will address the Plenary Session of the Summit, on the need for a new social contract, and the founding session of the Global Alliance for Social Justice, on strengthening social dialogue for the well-being of society.
At the same time, Mr. Panagiotou will meet with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization and will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts, as well as with leaders of European and international employers' and trade union organizations.
In addition, the Minister of Labour is scheduled to meet with specialized technocrats of the International Labour Organization to promote pension reform and strengthen wage adequacy, in line with government policy and the President's Governance Programme.
