In the framework of an informal meeting between the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Ms. Fabrice Leggeri, issues of common interest were discussed regarding the cooperation of the Agency with the competent authorities of Cyprus on border security and the monitoring of illegal migration trends in combination with cross-border crime.
Through the fruitful exchange of views, the common approach to strengthening the protection of the external borders of Cyprus, which are effectively the borders of the European Union, was reaffirmed through the support of the members of the Agency.
The Minister thanked Mr Leggeri for the visit and for the overall assistance provided by the European Border Guard and Coast Guard to the Member States of the European Union and in particular to our country. She also expressed confidence that the close cooperation between the two sides will continue, with a view to effectively addressing the intense migration challenges.
