[PIO] The Minister of Health Mr. Michael Damianos met with the President and the members of the Board of the National e-Health Authority

"eHealth can bring significant benefits to society as a whole, improving access to and quality of care."

This was stated by the Minister of Health, Mr. Michael Damianos, after the conclusion of a meeting with the President and members of the Board of Directors of the National e-Health Authority.

Mr. Minister said that he was informed about the mission and actions of the Authority, which have as their main objective the implementation and application of e-health, starting with the Single Electronic Health Record of citizens.

The e-health tools, Damianos added, provide access to health information that can save lives, which is particularly important due to the increasing cross-border movement of citizens and patients. One of the most important benefits, he said, is the contribution of eHealth to prevention.

He also stressed that the National eHealth Authority is coordinating the Joint Action of the European Union (EU) Member States to define an integrated electronic health record for European citizens, which will lead us to the European Health Union. This, he said, is an important development, which is a recognition of the important role of Cyprus at the European level.

In conclusion, Mr Damianos assured that the Ministry of Health will continue to encourage and support efforts to develop the e-Health sector. of the National e-Health Authority, Dr. Christos Schizas, welcomed the fact that e-Health is, as confirmed during the meeting, among the priorities of the Ministry of Health.
