[PIO] The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry met with the European Commissioner for Internal Market

The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Mr. Thierry Breton, who is in Cyprus as part of his tour of the wider region and will also meet with the President of the Republic and the Minister of Defence. Breton, accompanied by his team and the Head of the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, Ms Myrto Zambarta, was briefed by Mr. Papanastasiou on the Ministry's strategy and actions regarding the dual transition of Cyprus, energy and digital, which, as he explained, is a key prerequisite for enhancing the competitiveness of industry and, by extension, the economy of our country. Among other things, the Minister underlined the three main pillars of the energy policy of the Republic of Cyprus, which aim to tackle climate change and reduce the cost of energy for households and businesses, concerning the introduction of natural gas, the expansion of the use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving measures and the electrical interconnection with Greece and Israel.
