The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr Kostas Kadis, travelled to Strasbourg yesterday to participate in the informal meeting of EU Agriculture and Rural Development Ministers, which starts today and will continue throughout the day tomorrow, Tuesday 8 February.

The Informal Council will discuss the implementation of climate-friendly agricultural and forestry models, as part of the European Union's efforts to achieve the ambitious goal of climate neutrality and carbon offsetting by 2050.

During the work of the informal meeting, Agriculture Ministers will discuss in this context practices and policies that could contribute to improving carbon sequestration from agriculture as well as incentives for the development of private initiatives to finance carbon storage in agriculture.
