The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr Petros Xenophontos, travelled today, Sunday 19 November 2023, to Brussels to attend the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries of the European Union (EU).
The Council will discuss fishing opportunities for 2024 in the Atlantic and North Sea, as well as in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. Ministers will seek to adopt conclusions on a long-term vision for the EU's rural areas and will, inter alia, discuss progress on the proposal for a regulation on new genomic techniques.
The Council will brief ministers on the implementation of the EU Forestry Strategy 2030.
In the margins of the Council, the Minister will have a bilateral meeting with the Greek Minister for Rural Development and Food, Eleftherios Avgenakis.
