A presentation and guided tour of the works of the State Collection of Contemporary Cypriot Art housed in the premises of the House of Representatives took place on Tuesday evening with great success.
The hosting of works of the State Collection of Contemporary Cypriot Art in the House of Representatives enriches its premises with unique exhibits of great artists and highlights the ideas and messages of each and every one of them individually, from conception to realization.
The effort to enrich the building with works of art started two years ago with the resumption of the work of the Parliament in the building after the end of the pandemic. The idea was implemented by placing artworks in the corridors of the Parliament to showcase Cypriot art, particularly to visiting foreign dignitaries. This is an initiative of the Speaker of the Parliament fully interwoven with the philosophy of the institution, aiming to promote culture and the arts.
The event began with a discussion between the President of the Parliament and representatives of the artistic community on the issues of the registration of the artist's profession, the laws that need to be implemented, as well as the incentives that can be given in order to work in their favour.
This was followed by a guided tour of the works of art on the premises of the Parliament, in the presence of the creators and the curator of the selection and installation of the works.
Warm thanks are expressed to all the artists who attended, to the curator of the project to enrich the Parliament building with art, Mrs. Marina Christodoulides and to the officials of the State Collection of Contemporary Cypriot Art of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
