[PIO] The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus presented his credentials to the Republic of Nauru

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, based in Canberra, Mr. Antonis Sammoutis presented on 29 April 2024 his credentials to the President of Nauru, Mr. David Adeang.

During the credentials presentation ceremony, the High Commissioner conveyed the personal greetings of the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides to the President and the people of Nauru. He also referred to the cooperation between the two countries both within the framework of the UN and the Commonwealth. Mr. Sammoutis briefed President Adeang on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, expressing thanks for his country's support to the efforts of the Maoist side to find a just and viable solution.

President Adeang asked the High Commissioner to convey his warm greetings to the President of the Republic, expressing confidence that relations and cooperation between the two countries will be further developed in the future. He particularly stressed the importance his country attaches to joint action to address climate change and other challenges facing the planet.

During his stay in Nauru, the High Commissioner met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Charmaine Scotty and the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Christiana Detenamo. He also had meetings with the Minister of Infrastructure and Works Mr. Jesse Jeremiah and the Minister of Education Mr. Asterio Appi.
