The head of the Cypriot delegation to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Mr Aristos Damianou, will travel to London the day after tomorrow, Sunday, to participate in the 70th Annual Westminster Training Seminar, which will take place between 14 and 18 March 2022.
The Seminar aims to share views and experiences on best practices and tools for strengthening parliamentary functions and processes in the post-pandemic era. In particular, it will discuss issues related to the evolution of parliamentary scrutiny tools, the responsibility of parliamentarians to ensure the effectiveness of parliamentary committee functions, parliamentary privileges and standards, the relationship between parliaments and the executive, public consultation and representation, and the formation of hybrid parliaments in the wake of the pandemic.
In addition, in the framework of the Seminar, events will be held for Commonwealth Day 2022, which will be attended by dignitaries and political personalities from most of the Association's member parliaments.
