The Head of Humanitarian Affairs for Missing and Trapped Persons Ms. Anna Aristotelous paid a visit to the Association "O Kormakitis" in Nicosia.

The President and members of the Association welcomed with great pleasure Ms. Aristotelous, who was accompanied by officials of her Office, and made a brief presentation of the actions and activities organized by the youth of the Association, both in the occupied Kormakitis and in the free areas. These activities include theatrical and dance performances, charity events, dance parties, the festival for the feast of St. George, etc., highlighting the diverse social work of the Association.

Apart from the above, there was a discussion on issues of resettlement and water supply of Kormakitis, the crossings to and from the village, information on the progress of their football team, which belongs to the 3rd division of the CUP, issues of maintenance of their stadium facilities in Kormakitis, etc.

Mrs. Aristotelous expressed her special thanks to the President and the members of the Council of the Association "The Kormakitis" for the warm hospitality she received and congratulated the youth for the sporting activities and cultural events they organize, keeping alive the customs and traditions of the Maronites and achieving the coexistence of young and old through sporting and cultural meetings. "And because it is an Association that invests in youth, its work becomes even more important, because it is the youth who will continue the struggle and it is they who can create and offer even better opportunities in our land. For this reason, those who work systematically and manage to instil in young people the history of our country, our struggles and our tradition deserve to be congratulated. It is very important to be among people who are fighting and keeping our occupied villages alive," said Ms. Aristotelous. She assured that, through the close cooperation that exists with the Association and in accordance with the President's Governance Programme, the actions taken to resolve the issues raised will be continuous and intensified, since the focus of her Office is the human being and the sole objective is to improve the living conditions of the interned and resettled people of Cyprus, their progress and well-being.
