The Government Spokesman Mr. Yannis Antoniou and the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic, Mr. Victor Papadopoulos, attended today the event for the cutting of the New Year's cake of the Cyprus Union of Journalists (CPC), at the Journalists' Centre.
In his address to the event, the Representative said, among other things, that "we stand by the work of the CPC and all journalists.
Our primary goal cannot be other than 2024 being the year of the Cyprus settlement, the highest issue for everyone, both the Government and the State. We recognize the serious work done by journalists and the mission they serve. We want their intersections to be vertical, to be bold."
Addressing members of the NPC, the Spokesman said: "We believe that with your input, your interventions, we can better align ourselves in terms of the work we do as a State. We can listen to the concerns of the society in a much more effective, timely and valid manner. And that is our mission and our goal, to be more effective so that we can also improve the lives of our citizens. We are the Government of the whole Cyprus, of all Cypriots and this is the way we want to continue."
He added that he and his colleagues are supporters and close partners of the NPC and recalled that it was at the urging of the media that the Representative's briefings to journalists were reinstated.
