The Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital is a benchmark in the provision of high quality health services
In a festive atmosphere, on the occasion of the completion of 35 years of service of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital, the health professionals, pioneers of the Clinic, were honoured. The ceremony, which took place on Friday, 10 May 2024, in Nicosia, highlighted the timeless role of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic, which annually treats simple and complex cases, saving and improving the lives of thousands of our fellow human beings.
The Clinic, which is a benchmark in the provision of high quality health services, started its operation in 1989, receiving a series of firsts. Indicatively, in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic, which was housed until 2007 in the old Nicosia Hospital, the first open-heart surgeries in our country were performed. With the construction of the new Nicosia General Hospital, the Clinic moved to new facilities, where it continued its upgrading at all levels, including its staff and equipment. The team of the Clinic is complemented by qualified nursing and other staff, who, with impeccable organization and professionalism, provide the best possible care to the patients of the Clinic.
In his address at the event, the General Executive Director of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) Cyprus Stavridis, after congratulating the staff of the Clinic for their work, said: "Thank you for the lives you save on a daily basis. OCYPY is very proud of a Department like yours, where in a context of absolute professionalism, collegiality and, above all, love for one's fellow man, it offers work of inestimable value. We are confident that you will continue to keep the excellent name of your Clinic at the top and that you will pass on your knowledge, expertise and above all your values to the next generations of doctors who will follow your specialty."
Every year, the physicians of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of the Nicosia General Hospital of the OCYPY, the largest hospital in Cyprus, perform more than 300 surgeries and 100 thoracic cases. At the same time, the physicians of the Department provide continuous support to the Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department (ADEP), in order to serve emergency cases in a timely and efficient manner.
With a continuous goal of growth and continuous improvement, focusing on people and ensuring the health of our country's citizens, OKYPY continues to move forward with steady steps, investing in its staff, infrastructure and equipment.
