The Ministry of Culture announces the announcement of the Thymeli Project for the first half of 2024, which aims to promote and develop theatrical art in Cyprus, through the funding of theatrical productions aimed at the whole of society.
The Project aims to provide financial support for the production of theatrical works that, among other things, promote, cultivate and disseminate theatrical art, contribute to the formation of artistic perception and sensibility in the public and encourage synergies and research in the production of theatrical works.
The aim is to select repertoires that innovate, renew and enrich theatrical productions with new proposals of interpretation and means of expression.
The beneficiaries of the Project are both professional and newly established theatre companies based in Cyprus, as defined in the provisions of the Project.
The funding of each production will be determined according to the order of the ranking received by the proposal and will be subsidised up to 80% of the total budget, up to a maximum of €40,000.
It is stated that the Plan also provides for additional grants, such as €1,200 for Cypriot projects or for out-of-town tours, up to €6,000, based on the budget submitted.
More information on the terms and conditions of the THYMELI 2024 Plan and the application forms can be found on the website of the Ministry of State for Culture at the following link: www.culture.gov.cy/sxedia.
The deadline for applications is 3 November 2023, at 12 midnight. The overall ranking of proposals and their overall scores will be made public for transparency purposes.
It is noted that, in this Draft, the application period has been revised to six months, instead of the 12 months previously applicable. Therefore, applicants will be able to submit their applications twice a year for theatrical productions to be staged in the first and second semesters of 2024.
