[PIO] The Deputy Minister to the President participated in the International Business Conference of the Cyprus International Business Association

Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki participated today in the International Business Conference of the Cyprus International Business Association (CIBA), on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Association. In her speech, the Deputy Minister praised CIBA's significant contribution to safeguarding the interests of international business in Cyprus and promoting an investment-friendly business environment.

Ms. Piki's speech focused on the implementation of the long-term strategy "Vision 2035", which aims to make Cyprus one of the best places to live, work and do business in the world. Acknowledging the complexity of the current international environment, she stressed the need for clear policy planning, as well as the Government's commitment to the triptych: fiscal discipline, financial stability and continuous structural reforms.

She also highlighted the positive performance of Cyprus' economy, which compares favourably with the economic growth rate of the European Union (EU), the recent upgrades by two major rating agencies, as well as the recent issuance of a seven-year bond of Regarding the green transition, he highlighted the need to increase renewable energy production and improve energy efficiency, noting a number of new grant projects that came into effect in 2024. On the digital transition, he referred to the "Digital Citizen" application, through which citizens will have direct digital access to official government documents (e.g. ID card).

In the context of strengthening the extroversion of the Cypriot economy, he stated that the launch of an international campaign to promote Cyprus is imminent, inviting CIBA members to actively participate in this campaign and support its actions.

In conclusion, Ms Piki reiterated the Government's commitment to creating a friendly business environment and ensuring long-term partnerships that will benefit both Cyprus and its international partners.
