[PIO] The Deputy Minister of Culture visited the state galleries and the art storage area

The Deputy Minister of Culture Dr.Vasiliki Kassianidou, accompanied by the Director General of the Deputy Ministry and officials of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture, visited yesterday the state galleries of contemporary art, SPEL and Majestic, as well as the depository of contemporary art works.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister discussed on the spot with the Department's officials ways of preserving, presenting and promoting 20th and 21st century Cypriot art.

Furthermore, the short-term planning and the next steps for the realisation of exhibitions and cultural events or programmes were discussed, while ways of upgrading the building stock concerning the exhibition spaces for the presentation of contemporary Cypriot culture were also put on the agenda.

The two spaces of the State Gallery are fully operational, hosting permanent or temporary exhibitions, aiming to bring the public into contact with art, and to develop innovative activities and educational programmes based on the state collection of works.
