[PIO] The Deputy Minister of Culture met with the Secretary General of Europa Nostra

The Deputy Minister of Culture Dr Vasiliki Kassianidou met with the Secretary General of Europa Nostra Ms Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, at the Deputy Ministry of Culture.

During the meeting, the important initiative to create a cultural heritage hub of Europa Nostra in Nicosia, which aims to protect and promote the cultural heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, was discussed.

The meeting also put on the table various ideas for actions and partnerships with other countries in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East to address important issues such as the impact of climate change on efforts to protect cultural heritage.

Furthermore, there was a fruitful exchange of views on the importance of synergies between Local Authorities, civil society, as well as academic and research institutions for the promotion and protection of cultural heritage, promotion of sustainable development, environmental protection, artistic support and social inclusion.

Europa Nostra is a pan-European cultural heritage organisation representing citizens' organisations working to safeguard Europe's cultural and natural heritage.
