Regarding the portfolio of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, informed today the President of the Hellenic Socialist Party, Dr. Marinos Sizopoulos. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Movement, as part of a series of contacts that the Deputy Minister of Culture is currently holding with the parliamentary parties.

In her statements to journalists, Dr. Kasiyanidou said that she had the opportunity to meet with Mr. She noted that during the meeting she had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Sizopoulos in order to inform him about the progress of the implementation of the work of the Ministry of Culture during the first year of the government of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides and the coalition government.

She noted that during the meeting they discussed various issues, for which the Ministry of Culture would like the support of the EPPC. Among these issues are the promotion of bills to the House of Representatives for passage, such as the bill on artists, tax incentives, as well as general support for culture.

Describing the discussion with the President of the EPP as very constructive, the Deputy Minister said that during the meeting she provided information on the programmes supporting cultural education that are being promoted in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, on the new Cyprus Museum, as well as on other actions that will be promoted by the Ministry of Culture this year.

For his part, Mr. Sizopoulos, after thanking the Deputy Minister for "the admittedly constructive and valuable meeting", said that they received a detailed briefing on the plans and actions of the Ministry of Culture, which, he said, found them in full agreement.

"We must say that these are quite innovative and upgraded plans and it is very important from our side, as we have submitted specific proposals, to constructively support the implementation of these actions," said the President of the EPP.

Once again, he added, "we would like to stress that as a semi-inhabited country facing a serious problem of physical and national survival due to Turkey's expansionist policy, it is very important to upgrade culture to the greatest extent possible, because culture in essence is, if not the strongest, one of the strongest shields of protection against Turkey's expansionist policy."

Therefore, he continued, for this constructive cooperation, we have given an assurance to the Deputy Minister that we will continue it.

"We are at her disposal to discuss everything, and to submit our own proposals constructively, to contribute and help in the implementation and fulfillment of this high goal of the work carried out by the Deputy Ministry," concluded Mr. Sizopoulos.
