[PIO] The Cyprus Organization for Standardization held an informative workshop entitled: "The New International Service Quality Management System

The informative workshop of the Cyprus Standards Organisation (CYS) entitled: "The New International Standard for Quality Management System for Health Care Services CYS ISO 7101:2023 "Management systems for quality in healthcare organizations - Requirements", which aimed to inform all stakeholders about the basic requirements of this standard, which can be applied to health care services of any kind, regardless of size, status, specialties and services.

The workshop was held under the auspices of the Minister of Health, Mr. Michael Damianos, who gave a welcome address at its opening. Greetings were also given by the Director General of CYS, Ms Athina Panayiotou, who announced, among other things, the recent adoption of the standard as National, and by Mr Athos Tsinodidis, Deputy Director General of the Health Insurance Organisation, who, as the competent authority for the implementation of the GHS, supported the Workshop.

This was followed by a short presentation on the activities of CYS in the health sector, as well as on the ways of participation of public and private bodies in European and international standardization. The invited speaker at the workshop was Dr. Adamantia Englezopoulou, Governor of the General Hospital of Corfu, who is also an evaluator of the National Accreditation System (NAS), who spoke about the critical role that leadership plays in quality management in the health sector and in creating the necessary culture that puts patient health as a priority.

Then the requirements of the CYS ISO 7101 standard were presented and analyzed by the CYS Health Officer Ms. Elena Demosthenous, who actively participated as a technical expert in the working group of the International Technical Committee ISO TC 304 Healthcare Organization Management that drafted the standard. In addition, there was an online intervention by the expert Ms Jan Mackereth-Hill who, through her experience in the preparation of specifications and the evaluation of health services, referred to the significant differences and advantages that CYS ISO 7101 can offer compared to the popular but general management systems standards.
