The finalization of the published Gold Bay Local Plan was approved today by the Council of Ministers. The Local Plan includes the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous and the Communities of Chrysochous, Pelathousa, Makundas and Karamoulides. The Local Plan was published in the Official Gazette in 2021 and subsequently a total of 17 objections were submitted and considered, of which 15 were rejected in their entirety and two were approved and incorporated into the Plan.
Speaking to media officials after the Cabinet meeting, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said that "the need for the preparation of the Chrysochous Bay Local Plan arose from the importance attached to this area as a geographical and employment centre of northern Paphos. With the Local Plan, development in the area is promoted, controlled and regulated, with the aim of achieving the gradual development and urban consolidation of the area."
He added that the Local Plan "ensures the preservation of the urban-rural character of the area, as well as its natural, economic and social specificity, so as to highlight its regional role as a single functional unit."

With regard to the two objections approved, Mr Ioannou pointed out that these relate to modifications that contribute to residential, business and tourism development, assuring that they do not affect areas that are environmentally sensitive.
