The Commissioner for Rural Payments, Mr Andreas Kyprianou, together with other officials of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Agency (CAP), visited Paphos today and was informed about the damage to agricultural crops that are in the process of applying for subsidies in 2024. Kyprianou noted that the fire will be demarcated and the impact assessed through the electronic monitoring systems developed by the Agency and that all applicants will be paid normally without having to go to the Agency's offices to place their parcels under the category of force majeure. This will be done centrally by the Agency.
He also noted that a newsletter will be sent to multi-year commitment applicants for affected parcels so that their contracts can be varied by the relevant Aid Planning and Payment Approval Department.
He also pointed out that there will be no recovery on multi-year commitments affected by the fire.
Mr. Kyprianou also stated that from the very first moment he has been in contact with the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment and there is coordination of actions to protect our farmers from the consequences of the devastating fires.
