[PIO] The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Lao People's Democratic Republic presented her credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Ms Martha A. Mavrommatis, presented her credentials to the President of the country, Mr Thongloun Sisoulith, at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane on 28 September 2023.

In the meeting that followed, the Ambassador conveyed to the President of Laos the warm greetings of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed her readiness and commitment to further strengthen ties between the two countries. Ms Mavrommatis briefed President Sisoulith on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the President's initiative to resume negotiations.

President Sisoulith returned the greetings to the President of the Republic, underlining the will to strengthen cooperation between Cyprus and Laos at the economic, commercial and tourism levels. At the same time, he reaffirmed his country's support for efforts to reach a solution to the Cyprus problem on the basis of the relevant UN resolutions.
