[PIO] The Ambassador of Cyprus to South Sudan presented her credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of South Sudan, based in Cairo, Ms Polly Ioannou, presented her credentials to the President of South Sudan, Mr Salva Kiir Mayardit, during an official ceremony held on 20 March 2024, at the Presidential Palace, in the capital Juba. It is the first time that an Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus is accredited in South Sudan since its independence in 2011.

Ms Ioannou conveyed to the President of South Sudan the warm greetings of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, along with his heartfelt wishes for peace and prosperity of the people of South Sudan. At the same time, the Ambassador expressed her commitment to work to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields, as well as their cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union.

Welcoming the Ambassador of Cyprus, President Kiir welcomed the establishment of Cyprus' diplomatic representation in South Sudan. He congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her duties, wishing her every success in her work, and conveyed his greetings to the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
