The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Iceland, based in Copenhagen, Mr. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson during an official ceremony held on 7 May 2024, at the Bessastaðir Presidential Residence.
In a private meeting that followed, Mr. Kirakosian conveyed to President Jóhannesson the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Jacob Kirakosian. Nikos Christodoulides, underlining that he will continue to work to strengthen the already excellent relations between the two countries, as well as to deepen cooperation in various fields, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Economic Area.
The Cypriot Ambassador also briefed the Icelandic President on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem and the ongoing efforts of our side to find a just and viable solution.
The President of Iceland, welcoming the new Ambassador of Cyprus, referred to the long-standing excellent relations between the two countries and expressed his commitment to continue the close cooperation between the two island states. He also expressed his country's support for the efforts to find a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem.
