- The Fire Department for the three-day period from 6 a.m. February 23 to 6 a.m. February 26, 2024 responded to 107 calls for assistance (69 fires, 33 special services and five false calls).
- The Fire Department from 6 a.m. February 25 through 6 a.m. February 26, 2024 responded to 39 calls for assistance (25 fires, 12 special services and two false calls).
- At 17:17 yesterday, a call was received for a fire in a vehicle parked in a parking lot of the Horse Racing Club in the Ayios Pavlos area of Nicosia District. Two fire engines from the Paphos Gate Fire Station responded, and the fire was brought under control at 17:38. The fire and heat caused extensive damage to the vehicle in question. An adjacent parked vehicle was also damaged by the fire. After investigating the causes of the fire in cooperation with the police, it was determined that the fire was caused by arson.
- At 20:01 a call was received for a fire in the underground car park of a block of flats in Egomi, Nicosia District. Two fire engines from the Lakatameia Fire Station responded and the fire was brought under control at 20:15. The fire was confined to an office chair in the underground vehicle parking area of the building without spreading. The cause of the fire is attributed to a possible malicious act by unknown/underage persons.
- At 21:56 a call was received for a fire at the "Cheriu Multipurpose Centre", in Nicosia District. Three fire trucks from the Fire Stations of Lakatameia and Acropolis Fire Stations of Sergeant Spyros Tantatis responded. The fire, which was located in the lounge area on the ground floor of the building, was extinguished by staff before the arrival of the Fire Service. The institution's residents were evacuated in a timely manner by the institution's staff, in cooperation with members of the Fire Department, without risk, and were examined by the Ambulance crew called to the scene. One person was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital for further examination as a precautionary measure. An inspection and ventilation of the site was carried out by members of the Fire Service. The causes of the fire will be investigated later today in cooperation with the competent authorities.
