The Fire Service from 06.00 on 14 January 2022 until 06.00 of January 15, 2022 responded to 23 calls for assistance, six fires, 16 special services and one false call.
At 18:05 yesterday a call was received for a traffic accident on Academy Street in Lakatamia. A HONDA CIVIC vehicle veered off course and overturned in the linear park. Police and Fire Department members from the Lakatamia Fire Station responded with a team and rescue vehicle and a fire truck. Rescue gear was used to extricate two people and after being placed on a immobilisation board, they were handed over to ambulances for transport to the T.A.E.P. of Nicosia Hospital.
At 01:48 a call was received for a fire in two vehicles in Limassol. The two vehicles, brand RENAULT and TOYOTA AURIS, were parked on the ground floor parking lot of an apartment building. Members of the Police and Fire Service from the St. John's Fire Station of Sergeant Vassilis Crocus, with two fire engines, responded and the fire was brought under control at 02:28. Preventive evacuation of the apartments of the building was carried out, with the assistance of the Police. Due to the fire and heat, the vehicles suffered extensive damage. Public areas have not been affected. The cause of the fire will be investigated later today, in cooperation with the police.
