[PIO] The action of the Fire Service during the last four days

The Fire Service for the four days from 06.00 on 4 March 2022 until 06.00 on 8 March 2022 responded to 113 calls for assistance, 69 fires, 35 special services and 9 false calls.

The Fire Department from 06:00 on March 7, 2022 through 06:00 on March 8, 2022 responded to 29 calls for assistance, 19 fires, 9 special services and 1 false call.

At 18:42, a call was received for a vehicle fire on the old Idalio - Libbyon road. The vehicle, make MITSUBISHI LANCER was parked with no occupants in an open area. Members of the Police and the Fire Service, from the Island Countryside Fire Station and Acropolis Fire Station, responded with 3 (three) fire engines and the fire was brought under control at 19:05. Due to the fire and heat, the vehicle was extensively damaged. At first glance, it is possible that the fire was caused by an electrical problem, the cause of which will be investigated later today in conjunction with the Police and the Electrical Engineering Department.

A call was received at 22.32 for a fire in a stone-built cottage in the village of Vasa Koilaniou. The Moniati Countryside Fire Station responded with 2 fire engines and the fire was brought under control at 23.36 hours. The fire and heat damaged electrical equipment in the extended room of the house, as well as part of the paintwork of the house. The cause of the fire will be investigated later today, in conjunction with the Police and the Electrical Engineering Service.

At 04:44, a call was received for a vehicle fire in Paphos. The vehicle, brand BMW was parked with no occupants in an open area. Members of the Police and Fire Service, from the Paphos Fire Station, responded with a fire engine and the fire was brought under control at 05:02. Due to the fire and heat, the vehicle was extensively damaged. An investigation into the cause of the fire will follow later today, in conjunction with police.
