The Fire Service, from 06:00 on 17 August 2023 until 06:00 on 18 August 2023, responded to 29 calls for assistance (15 fires, 8 special services and 6 false calls).
At 16:17 a message was received about a fire at an oil paint manufacturing plant in the area of Pera Choriou Nissou, Nicosia District. Members of the Police and Fire Service from the Nicosia Fire Stations responded and the fire was brought under control at 16:43. The fire was located outside the factory in a covered storage area and did not extend inside the factory.
The contents of the storage area were damaged by the fire and heat. In addition, the roof of this storage area was also affected by the fire. It is noted that the factory was closed at the time of the fire and there were no employees on site, so no one was in danger. However, both the factory in question and adjacent factories were at risk and protected.
Following an investigation into the causes of the fire, which was conducted in cooperation with the police, it was determined that this was a malicious act.
