Defence Minister Michael Yiorgallas today had a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan, following the postponement of Mr Papikyan's planned visit to Cyprus, due to further escalation in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
In their communication, the two Ministers confirmed the excellent relations between Cyprus and Armenia, as well as the excellent cooperation in the Trilateral format between the two countries and Greece in the fields of defence and security. In addition, they discussed issues of common interest related to developments in the South Caucasus and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Yiorgallas also expressed his full support to the people of Armenia.
The Defence Ministers expressed mutual desire to hold the meeting in the near future, when conditions permit.
