It is in cooperation with voluntary organisations that we can face the challenges, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides said tonight.
Speaking to reporters while attending an event of the Chloraka Community Volunteerism Council, the President of the Republic said: "We are here with the Deputy Minister of Welfare precisely to support volunteerism. I want to congratulate the excellent work that is being done."
The State alone cannot meet its obligations. It is in cooperation with voluntary bodies, voluntary groups, that we can address challenges that we have, especially when it comes to the elderly in our country. It is to the elderly that we owe so much.
And from our side we have taken a decision in the Council of Ministers to proceed with the development of a strategy for the elderly, because we see that there are gaps and we should also do more as a State, always in cooperation with all our compatriots, our fellow citizens, who work through their spare time and really show their interest."
