There will be developments with the new football season, President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides said tonight.
In his statements before the start of the football Cup final match between Omonia and Pafos FC, the President of the Republic said: "May the best man win. We all have our preferences of course, but the most important thing is to see a good game, to see enough goals and may the best man win."
In response to a journalist's remark that this is the first game to be played in the presence of fans of both teams after the ban on the movement of visiting fans, the President of the Republic said: "Exactly, because that's what we want. That's because that's why we want it. It is important that children from all the teams came with me, my children came with me. It's important that families come to the stadium. That's what sport is about, uniting and not the things we see from time to time that we will do everything possible to prevent from happening again."
Asked if developments are foreseen from the new season, President Christodoulides replied. We have specific approaches. I hope there will be cooperation from both the CRO and the teams. I think that we have a common interest and the teams, the Federation and the Government to have safe games and that there is no problem at all."
