In the migration issue, everything can change from one day to the next, Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou said in a statement today, arriving at the Mesogi Community Council where a regional meeting was held with the communities of the Paphos District.
In response to a journalist's comment that the measures taken by the Government seem to have worked and that a recession has been observed recently, Ioannou reiterated that in the migration issue, everything can change from one day to the next. "So far it seems that the measures have worked, but because we depend on exogenous factors, we are waiting. We are waiting for the next few weeks to see what will happen, but so far the results are positive. We are seeing a significant reduction in arrivals. In terms of returns, we are continuing at the same pace. Last month over a thousand people have been returned back to their countries. We are continuing at the same pace of returns. We are constantly evaluating the measures, and we are also waiting for an update on the Lebanon issue. So everything is being evaluated," the Minister stressed.
