The recording of damages in the Municipality of Germasogeia is continuing and instructions have been given to the Provincial Administration for rapid assessment and compensation of the affected people, Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou said today.

In his statements on the sidelines of the educational workshop of the Pancyprian Association of Land and Building Development Entrepreneurs, at the OEB, and responding to a question on the agreement with Lebanon on the repatriation of migrants, Ioannou clarified that this is a verbal agreement, and, due to the political situation in the country, there is a given position by the Lebanese authorities. As Mr Ioannou said, political representations are being made and the results are awaited.

With regard to the damage in Yermasoyia due to the extreme weather phenomena that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 14 February, asked if the recording of the damage has been completed, the Minister noted that the process is ongoing by the crews of the Limassol District Administration. He also said that by last night the Yermasoyia Municipality and the District Administration had received over 140 calls, while so far damage had been recorded in 65 cases. The process of recording continues as of this morning today, the Interior Minister said, adding that "the Limassol Prefect has been instructed to move swiftly after the recording, make an assessment and proceed with the compensation."

Asked about the Local Government Reform, Ioannou reiterated the Government's intention to proceed with the implementation of the reform as passed by the House of Representatives.

Finally, referring to the educational workshop of the Pancyprian Association of Land and Building Development Entrepreneurs, the Minister welcomed the initiative, saying that the event was organised in order to inform professionals in the sector about the new procedure for issuing property titles and the changes that have been launched in the Department of Cadastre and Land Surveying. "They aim to issue property titles within three months instead of more than one year which was the time required until now," Ioannou said."
