An amending decree on protective measures against COVID-19 was approved by the Council of Ministers today.
In statements after the conclusion of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Health Mr. Michael Damianos said that based on the amending decree, the obligation to show a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a negative rapid antigen detection test (rapid test) when patients and visitors enter public and private hospitals, nursing homes and other places of care and hospitality for the elderly, vulnerable and susceptible groups is abolished.
The only measure that essentially remains, as the Minister noted, is the use of masks in nursing homes, nursing homes and closed health care facilities.
Asked about the current epidemiological picture regarding COVID -19, Damianos said that cases are very limited in relation to the number of tests carried out, while the number of hospitalizations is now very low. Therefore, he concluded, it was considered that there was no reason to continue the measures, which were largely being phased out.
