"We need to speed up procedures so that the Paphos General Hospital is upgraded as it deserves."
This was pointed out by Health Minister Dr. Poppy Kanari during her visit to the Paphos General Hospital today.
The purpose of the visit, she said, was to discuss with the heads of the clinics the issues they face in order to initiate solutions.
She stressed that there is much more to be done in order to achieve the upgrading of the Paphos Hospital, noting that the Ministry in cooperation with the OCYPY will provide the necessary assistance in this direction. "The pace is somewhat slow and this has to change," he added.
He also pointed out that the Paphos General Hospital offers very good services, has excellent doctors and nurses and this image has to come out.
He admitted that our hospitals managed a large number of cases in the summer, due to the increase in the tourist flow in Paphos and Famagusta. Consequently, he added, proper planning should be done now in order to be ready for the next summer period.
Regarding the issue of the Pafos General Hospital TAEP, he said that it should be strengthened in terms of staffing. He noted that efforts have been made by the OCYPY in this direction, which, however, have not been fully successful, which requires the repetition of the effort on the part of the organization.
In conclusion, Dr Kanari assured that the Ministry of Health will support the efforts in order for the Paphos General Hospital to be able to successfully meet the demands of the city of Paphos and the wider region.
