A meeting with the unions and the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) will be held next Wednesday, Health Minister Dr. Popi Kanari announced in an attempt to restart the dialogue on the negotiation of a collective agreement in public hospitals.

The Health Minister, who was speaking on the sidelines of her visit to the Athalassa Hospital, explained that OKYPY will submit a document to the Ministry of Health on Monday which will include the Agency's responses to the unions' questions. On the basis of these responses, a joint effort will be made to formulate a mutually acceptable proposal.

Asked by the Minister about the letter from the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the President of the Republic, through which Ms Demetriou conveyed the request of the Health Committee that the Government include in the State Budget for 2024 an allocation of 4 million euros. EUR 4 million to cover the medical expenses of patients and their companions when the State decides to send them abroad for treatment, Dr Kanari explained that the study carried out three years ago needs updating. "So, with correct data we will come back with the request, based on current data, together with the Ministry of Finance with whom we are in consultation," the Health Minister added. "The coverage of these costs is also considered justified by me," the Minister said.
