A meeting under the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides on issues concerning the OCYPY was held today at the Presidential Palace. The meeting was attended, among others, by the Minister of Finance Mr Makis Kerynos, the Minister of Health Dr. Popi Kanari, the Deputy Minister to the President Mrs. Irene Piki, the Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letibiotis and the leadership of the OCYPY.
In a statement after the meeting, Health Minister Dr. Popee Kanari said that the meeting was about the analysis of actions on the part of the OCYP on issues of saving resources and increasing revenues.
"A very detailed statement was presented by the OCYP on these issues, which is based on four pillars. The four pillars include internal actions, external actions, agreements with agencies and agreements relating to cost harmonisation with the private sector," she added.
The analysis on the part of the OCYPF, Dr Kanari said, was quite thorough, but cooperation is needed to monitor the actions to be taken by the Agency.
To this end, she noted, a working group will be set up, consisting of representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Health and the State Aid Inspectorate, which will monitor the implementation of these actions on a regular basis, in cooperation with the OCYPY.
"Through this cooperation we expect to achieve the desired results within a short period of time, in order to present them at a new meeting to be held under the President of the Republic. The cooperation of the OAU in the actions that will be undertaken will help in order to achieve the objectives that have been set", the Minister pointed out.
Regarding the decision of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) to classify the Limassol General Hospital in category two (2) of the hospitals of the General Health Insurance Scheme, the Minister said that she has convened a meeting for next Monday, with the aim of finding solutions, with the help of the HIO, on the basis of strengthening the Limassol General Hospital in terms of equipment and human resources. The meeting will be attended, in addition to the administration of the Ministry of Health, by the management of OCYPY and the management of the Limassol General Hospital.
