The very fact that Cyprus was chosen among the countries to participate in the Middle East Summit, which will take place on Saturday in Egypt, proves the recognition of the role that the Republic of Cyprus can play, President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides.
In his statements to journalists, coming to a conference organised by the Ministry of Tourism at the "Filoxenia" Conference Centre, the President of the Republic of Cyprus was asked about his participation in the summit convened by the President of Egypt next Saturday on the situation in the Middle East: "I think the very fact that Cyprus was chosen among the countries to be invited to such an important summit also demonstrates the recognition of the role, whatever role, I don't want to exaggerate, the Republic of Cyprus can play, as the state in the region that maintains excellent relations with all the neighbouring states and at the same time is an EU member state
And it is what we conveyed in the recent European Council, the role we can play, beyond the humanitarian aspect. For the first time there are so many requests from countries to remove nationals using our country, but more importantly, the key issue at the moment is how to deal with this crisis. A crisis that if it expands, if it continues, you realize that it will have negative consequences for all of us."
