The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, who visited the Acropolis High School, on the occasion of the start of the new school year.

In his statements to journalists after the visit, the President of the Republic said: "I am visiting the Gymnasium today to send a message in relation to the priorities of our government.

I have said it many times, Education and Health are the main priorities of our government, especially the issues of Education, you understand the horizontal dimension, they affect everything the government deals with.

I was here today to remind you that when I took office my first visit was to a school, so we will continue this dialogue and the Minister and the officials of the Ministry of Education because it is important that these changes, which we have already begun to promote in our education, are constantly evaluated so that they bring the desired results.

Beyond that, you heard the dialogue with students. The first issue that came up repeatedly afterwards in the discussion is the issue of air conditioners.

With the Minister, in the very near future, and we do not mean next year, but now, we will have a meeting where she will present the data in relation to the needs for air conditioners.

They are right, we have to admit it. And we've been discussing this issue in the public debate for the last 10-15 years. Our goal, as I mentioned, as is the promise that I made, is in the next three years to finish this issue."

Finally, when asked, he said that students should not come to school just to cover the material, but "through our education system to help our students develop those skills and abilities so that they can make decisions with respect to the future."
