The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. After the meeting, Mr. Vafeadis made the following statements. They mentioned that the staff at the port of Larnaca has gone on strike and asked to meet with us. The issue is the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour. A meeting has been arranged with the relevant officials of the Ministry of Labour on Tuesday, but because they had requested a meeting with us for information, we dutifully listened to them. However, the matter will be referred to the Ministry of Labour. We are ready for whatever assistance the Ministry of Labour needs, to assist in resolving this issue."

In response to a reporter's remark that workers are worried that the agreement may collapse and they may all be on the street, Vafeades said: "The workers link the issue of the contract with Kition to their labour issue. In our understanding, it is not linked. We have to manage a contract with a contractor. We have received the letter we were expecting from the Legal Service and they are clarifying what the next steps are so that we can protect the public interest."
