The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, attended today a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works, on "The safety of the school bus as a means of transport".

In a statement after the session, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works said that he briefed the Committee on Transport, Communications and Works regarding the events of the last few days. He also informed the Committee that next week he expected the full return of services to their normal regularity.

Specifically, he stated: "We are on the fourth day in which buses have been grounded. Unfortunately pupils are being inconvenienced in how they can get to school. What we can announce, and it is positive, is that the indications we have so far from the companies who have been contracted to supply the equipment is that early next week the public transport service will be back to normal. We are awaiting definitive information from the companies. We hope that tomorrow or at the latest on Saturday all passengers will be informed exactly what day all buses will be operating again."
