First of all, I would like to thank the Board of Directors of OAI for the excellent cooperation we have, and especially the Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Thomas Antoniou. We had a very good meeting, where an update was given on the Ministry of Health's thoughts on the GHS. I clearly mentioned to them that the GHS is a one-way street. The architecture of the GHS is not changing. I mentioned to them that the Ministry of Health understands and we thank them that they have brought the General Health System to this point so that the whole world can enjoy this benefit that they have been asking for for several years. But at the same time, this young child who is almost two years old has several problems that we need to correct immediately. We have been discussing how to fix these problems for the past three or four months. As I mentioned before, we were going to announce them last week, but unfortunately I came down with coronavirus. Today we have discussed these recommendations and these decisions that will improve the abuses before the members of the Board of Directors, who are the members responsible for implementing these recommendations. From what I have heard from all of the Board members, they have viewed these recommendations in a positive light and I believe that they will implement them in a very short period of time to improve our system even more, and by that I mean that if we have improvements we will have savings and we will have more money for more treatments, for more drugs, for the benefit of our patients.

The recommendations address all of the problems that have come to light in the last few days. One recommendation is about how to solve the issue with the Attorney General's opinion, so it will solve a very big problem that we have. The second recommendation is about how to solve the problem with some doctors and nursing homes that are evading taxes. Other suggestions relate to how to improve the way in which personal physicians operate and are paid, which is an issue that we have discussed several times with the OAS management team. We discussed it, reflected on it several times, and came up with a concrete way to implement it in the coming days. I also want to mention that on the basis of these improvements, the services that patients receive will also be improved, because on the basis of these recommendations, a timetable will be set where on-call clinics will start operating, both for patients and for paediatricians. So we are not only talking about savings, we are also talking about improving the General Health System, and with this we want to give the message that the GHS is not collapsing but is strengthened and we will offer even better services to Cypriot citizens and Cypriot patients.
