The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Ms Athena Michaelidou, met today with the President Mr.
After the meeting, Ms. Michailidou, in a statement to journalists, said: "Today we held a first formal meeting with the new Board of Directors of the Cyprus Sports Organisation. Let me first thank the outgoing Board of Directors for the good cooperation and say that today we had a constructive meeting with the new Board of Directors.
We have laid the foundations for our regular communication, because there is a need for frequent communication between us in order to implement important actions of the Governance Programme. First and foremost, to have a concrete work plan with actions, costing and timetables, so that in the next period we can see important objectives for our sport being implemented.
It is a very important development for us that we are making a dynamic start. We are all of the opinion that a renewal is needed in sport. Healthy sport should be introduced into schools from a very early stage, i.e. it should be linked to education and then to youth. We should support our athletes who are the protagonists of this whole effort, and the Ministry should assist the whole work that the CMO will do. I wish good luck to the Council, the President, the members. We will be by their side in this effort with a very specific objective, through actions that will make full and rational use of the funds on the basis of our programmatic statements, "said the Minister of Education in conclusion.
