The test to stay will also be integrated into the National Guard, Defence Minister Haralambos Petridis said today. Petrides said that during the Cabinet meeting "I have requested and the National Guard has been included in the test to stay program. We are a large organization and we are moving in this direction."

Asked when the programme for the National Guard will start and where the tests will be conducted, the Minister said that "we are in direct consultation with the Ministry of Health and we expect to announce the date very soon."

Asked to refer to the visit to Cyprus of the Chief of the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Minister said that he has been in Cyprus since yesterday, noting that "a new window of cooperation (of Saudi Arabia) is opening with the Ministry of Defence, with the National Guard."

Asked whether bilateral agreements will be signed, Petrides said that "there is a memorandum of cooperation which will be signed very soon. A new cooperation is beginning and the head of the Saudi Armed Forces is here for this very purpose."

To another question, he said that the cooperation is "in its initial stages. After the United Arab Emirates we are now moving forward with this new cooperation that is taking shape."
