The Cyprus Government will also denounce to the EU the incident of harassment of a Greek Cypriot farmer in Denia by the occupying forces, Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos said today.
In his statements to journalists at the Presidential Palace, the Spokesman said that regarding the harassment of a Greek Cypriot farmer in Deneia by the occupation forces "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already reported the incident to the United Nations, which has started an investigation. As we have already been informed by the United Nations, we expect that this incident will be included in the next reports that will be prepared for UNFICYP services in Cyprus."
Asked about this, he said that "all incidents in which Security Council resolutions and the Green Line are violated are denounced. Of course, this incident will also be reported to the EU."
To a reporter's remark that the Director of FRONTEX and the Vice President of the Commission are arriving in Cyprus on the issue of illegal migration, the Spokesman said that "it is a very important issue, they are coming at the invitation of the Minister of Interior and during their visit they will discuss the issues related to the surveillance of the Green Line for migration purposes.
Therefore, we should expect to hold these consultations with the officials to see what will emerge so that the Republic of Cyprus' ability to prevent illegal entries can be enhanced."
