The Government will take all necessary actions as soon as possible in relation to the Rizokarpaso incident, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letibiotis said today.
In his statements to reporters at the Presidential Palace after the Cabinet meeting, the Spokesman, asked about the actions of the Turks in Rizokarpaso and the Government's reaction, said: "The Government's actions were immediate from the beginning, we have been informed, all the facts are being investigated and we will take all necessary actions as soon as possible."
Asked to comment on information about a new incident with the occupying army in Achna, the Spokesman said: "We are investigating any information, whether it is correct."
Asked if there is any news on the Pyla issue, the Spokesman replied in the negative, adding: "We are in contact with the peacekeeping force at every opportunity and we reiterate what we have said from the beginning, that the full implementation of all the provisions of the Understanding is in the interest of both communities."
Asked if Ms. Holguín has spoken about the Understanding during her contacts, the Spokesperson said: "Ms. Holguín's contacts were more to be informed about the positions of both sides. We look forward to March 11, which will be the first meeting with the President to discuss the issues further. It is a matter that the President, himself personally, has conveyed, and has repeatedly stated, the benefit that will come from the implementation of the Understanding."
Asked if Ms. Holguín would travel to other European cities besides London, the Spokesman said: "It is something that was in the thoughts of Ms. Holguín, whose programme is officially announced by the United Nations, but in the context of her contacts there was this intention on her part."
