Next Saturday the President of the Republic will have another meeting with the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG), Government Spokesman Mr.
In his statements to journalists at the Presidential Palace, as part of his media briefing, the Spokesman was asked when the next meeting of the President of the Republic, Mr. Constantinos Letibiotis, would take place. Nikos Christodoulides with the UN Secretary General's Personal Envoy for the Cyprus problem, Ms. María Ángela Holguín, said that the next meeting will take place next Saturday at the Presidential Palace, while to another question he said that "the President of the Republic hosted a dinner for Ms. Holguín last night". "It was a private, informal dinner between the President of the Republic and Mrs Holguín," he added.
Asked to comment on media reports about a ship carrying tons of National Guard ammunition being stopped off Cyprus due to issues in import and export permits, the Spokesman said that "the report is being investigated," adding that in matters involving sensitive cargoes, protocols are taken in accordance with international treaties for such transfers.
Asked about the investigations in connection with the Avvakum Monastery, the Spokesman said: "We should expect the investigations to be completed and when there are any findings from the investigations there will be an appropriate statement."
Asked whether the state controls and taxes revenues derived from various church events, such as the transfer of sacred relics or honorary belts and others, the Spokesman said that "the procedures that have governed for years and especially the relations between the Church and the state are well known either in terms of taxes or the procedures of protocols that are followed."
