The Government will provide all possible support to the work of the independent criminal investigators in the case of Thanasis Nikolaos, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letibiotis said today.

In his remarks to journalists at a media briefing at the Presidential Palace, when asked about the appointment of criminal investigators in the case of Thanasis Nikolaos, the Spokesman said: "The procedures have started since yesterday, which was the relevant decision of the Council of Ministers to appoint independent criminal investigators for the swift assumption of their duties.

As the Government, as a State, we will provide them with all possible support in the work they will perform and for the swift investigation of the case.

They are two independent, worthy, competent criminal investigators who we believe that as soon as possible, according to the material available to them, they will be able to reach their conclusion."

He also added: "What we are interested in is for the truth to shine through. That this drama, which has plagued the family of the unfortunate Thanasis for 19 years, has, under the circumstances, a happy ending, so that Thanasis' soul can rest in peace, so that we can see what should have been done and was not done and shed light on the culprits of this crime."
